STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
AIMS New Concept Care was established in October 1992. In 2000 a Limited Company called New Concept Care & Nursing Ltd was formed with three Directors. NCCN aims to promote an enabling environment for Service Users through the development of Goal/Outcome Care Planning and for Care Workers through the implementation of the Training and Development programme and by dynamic staff supervision.
Care is provided across several counties in the North East of England for older people, those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and mental health problems. Services are also provided for children and their families, domestic work or to provide a care worker to relieve a relative who needs a break. NCCN specialises in the provision of large care packages which are specifically designed for those who need a high level of care supervised by qualified nurses. A specialist Learning Disabilities team provides all levels of care in this specialty, including the provision of Independent Supported Living.

Chartered Member CIPD MANAGERS/SUPERVISORS Managers and Supervisory staff have a range of qualifications relating to care, nursing and administration. In house or out-sourced training is provided to ensure that the needs of the organisation are met. This is informed by the Annual Appraisal System. Two Area Managers have Moving and Handling Training the Trainers Awards. Managers from the Learning Disability Service have Breakaway Trainers Awards and other training expertise relating to this service user group.
In accordance with the Training and Development Policy, all Care Workers undertake Induction training which meets the needs of the Common Induction Standards prior to and during their first 6 weeks with the company. NVQ training is available for staff. A number of care workers have nursing experience, NVQ Level 2 and/or Level 3, and specific high level training in areas such as invasive ventilation, PEG feeding and other complex procedures. CONTINUITY OF SERVICE NCCN uses HomeCare software to co-ordinate care allocation. This indicates where a call is not covered. Every attempt is made to contact the client to explain any changes to times of calls or care workers in times of illness or holiday. If a call cannot be covered by alternative staff, the company will contact other providers in the area, the client and their relatives to attempt to locate alternative care arrangements. In some circumstances it may be necessary to discontinue a service, these circumstances include: 1. Occasions where a client is unwilling to use recommended aids and adaptations (such as a hoist) to ensure the safety of staff. 2. Where a client is behaving in an abusive manner towards Care or Management staff. 3. If the environment is causing severe Health and Safety risks to staff. 4. On occasions when the supply of staff in an area ‘dries up’ causing the company to be unable to cover the calls. 5. If the company takes a decision to cease provision of services in a specific area. In all circumstances, NCCN will engage in discussion to resolve any problems and if necessary will give 7 days notice prior to withdrawal of the service. QUALITY CONTROL Quality is maintained through internal quality control mechanism based on the National Minimum Standards. Satisfaction Questionnaires are distributed to Service User’s each month, results of this survey can be found at NCCN website www.newconceptcare.co.uk. Social Services Departments monitor quality of provision to meet the requirements of their tender arrangements. The Commission for Social Care Inspection carry out annual Inspections, their report can be found on the CSCI website at www.csci.org.uk Service User quality monitoring visits are carried out at least every 6 months by Management/Supervisory Staff. During these visits quality is monitored, review of service provision takes place, safety is monitored and all records are checked. Frequent telephone contact is made with all clients by Management staff to ensure an effective flow of communication is maintained.
To comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, NCCN informs all Care Workers and Clients about the information held on computer and paper based files and keeps all documents in a safe, confidential environment. This is covered by the Data Protection Policy held at NCCN Offices.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE NCCN will operate a fair and efficient complaints procedure which is simple and accessible. We hope that through our thorough monitoring system of reviews you will not need to use this process. If you contact NCCN Office by phone with a concern relating to your care the following procedure will be followed: Your Area Manager at NCCN (Tel 01430 876000) will take details
of your complaint, discuss the problem with you can record all relevant
details on our complaints form. If you refer your complaint to NCCN through a letter, the following procedure will be followed: 1. The most senior member of staff will read the letter
and commence the investigation process. If the complaint relates to a quality issue involving your care programme you will be contacted 3 months following the complaint to ensure that improvement has been maintained. IF YOU ARE STILL NOT SATISFIED: Contact Andrew Luckett, Registered Manager of New Concept Care & Nursing Ltd who will re-investigate the matter fully and negotiate an amicable agreement.
