Working
for New Concept Care & Nursing is different!
Working with NCCN as a Care Worker gives you considerable flexibility.
You are expected to work every other weekend and we like you to let us
know in advance when
you are available during the day and when you are going to have a holiday.
The consequence is that most people stay with us for years!!
Of course, as managers we have to be even more 'on the ball' should you
ring up and say that you cannot work for family reasons etc. However,
if you use this responsibly, so that we have time to find somebody to
cover, we believe that this will give a better service to our clients
as you are happier as you have more control over your life.
We provide a comprehensive
induction programme
Everybody is expected to attend for 3 days of training in our
systems and practices for which they will be paid. This is an opportunity
to learn how best to look after yourself and your service users and get
all the queries you might have resolved to your satisfaction. Then you
can get additional days of 'shadowing' alongside a colleague to experience
in the workplace what you have learned in training.
We will set up regular calls
for you
Please be patient, we can give you some calls
immediately
but it may take us a little while before you are working the total number
of hours you are looking for. This is because we do not take on new contracts
for care if we cannot cover them on a regular basis, therefore we do not
have a lot of calls waiting to be covered. Occasionally we will ask you
to cover for your colleagues when they are off - and they will cover for
you, so you will meet other clients and therefore broaden you skills and
experience as you work.
Unlike some care agencies,
we have a wide variety of work available.
Because NCCN is managed by nurses and we have approval to provide:
- terminal care for people in their own homes
- care for older people
- care for those with learning disabilities and physical disabilities
- childcare
- work in Residential Homes and Nursing Homes
- domestic work
- specialist care for people who have dementia
- respite for carers
- an escort for clients to attend sporting events or places of work
- support for people with disabilities to College to help them in note
taking etc.
If you have not worked
as a carer before.
FEAR NOT. We always support new staff by giving you the opportunity to
attend training sessions (eg in the use of a hoist, as shown in the pic),
to 'shadow' other more experienced workers and to get to know your clients
before you take over their care. Once you are 'in post', you then have
a Staff Support Worker as we mentioned above.
